Policies and learner care

Clear expectations for safe, supportive lessons.

These plain-language policies apply to enquiries and online tuition arranged directly with Shahd Learning. They are a working launch version and may be updated as the service develops.

Booking, payment and packages

  • A booking is confirmed only after the lesson time and payment arrangements have been agreed.
  • Lesson packages are paid in advance. Five-lesson packages are intended for use within three months and ten-lesson packages within six months.
  • Prices are shown in GBP. Any currency conversion is handled by the learner's payment provider.
  • The free 30-minute consultation is available once per new learner and is an assessment and planning conversation, not a full teaching lesson.

Cancellations and punctuality

  • Lessons may be cancelled or rearranged without charge with at least 24 hours' notice.
  • Cancellations within 24 hours and missed lessons may be charged in full. Genuine emergencies may be considered individually.
  • If the tutor cancels, the learner will be offered a replacement lesson or refund.
  • A lesson still ends at its scheduled time when a learner arrives late.
  • Missed group lessons are not normally repeated as individual lessons.

Safeguarding and under-18 learners

  • A parent or guardian must arrange lessons and provide consent for learners under 16.
  • Learners aged 16-17 may make an enquiry, but parent or guardian details and consent are required before tuition begins.
  • Communication concerning younger learners should include or go through the parent or guardian.
  • Lessons are not recorded unless the adult learner, or the parent or guardian of a minor, gives explicit prior consent.
  • Shahd has completed Level 1 Safeguarding Adults and Children training. The website does not claim DBS clearance.

Privacy and information

  • The website does not create learner accounts or store quiz answers in this launch version.
  • The consultation form keeps information in the visitor's browser until they choose to open an email or WhatsApp message.
  • Information sent by email or WhatsApp is used to respond to the enquiry, assess suitability, arrange tuition and maintain necessary lesson records.
  • Do not include medical records, identification documents or other unnecessary sensitive information in the enquiry form.
  • Parents and learners may ask for their enquiry information to be corrected or deleted, subject to any legitimate record-keeping requirement.

Learning and results

  • Lessons and resources support learning but do not guarantee an examination grade, language level, university place or other result.
  • Free tests provide short indicative feedback only and are not official CEFR, IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, Cambridge, GCSE or IGCSE assessments.
  • Materials are for the learner's personal educational use and should not be resold or republished.
